Almost forgot to mention...
When I first picked her up i kept calling her my Southern Belle. So that is her actual name. But I abbreviated it into one word and now we call her Sobe.
For the fourth of July i was SUPPOSED to go camping with some friends. Then it hit me..."They don't even have jobs! How are they gonna pay for anything?!". Then they failed to tell my Roommate Rob and I that you need a specific trailer hitch rig for the trailer. Which is several hundred dollars. Oh and that the trailers registration is up...and i can't even remember what else....lol So Rob and I decided we weren't doing that and headed to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. If you have not been there, GOOOO!!! I love it out there. Beautiful, relaxing, definitely growing yet still slow paced. I'd love to settle down there. We'll see where the Guard takes me. So we relaxed there and met up with my friend Brittany who is stationed at Small Boat Station Hatteras. We had a good time and were able to meet her family that was down from Maryland. The next day they invited us to come out and join their family for dinner. We laid out newspaper and ate a bushel of crabs! It was AWESOME! haha Is that an East Coast thing? Cause i don't think we've ever done that. Great people and good food. I was sure to let them know how much i appreciated it since my nearest family is 8-10 hours away depending on traffic. Mr. Davis was a tour guide in DC during college and offered a place to stay and a historic tour whenever I'd like to go up there.
It really amazes me, the difference of peoples attitudes and traditions, depending on where you live. I mean, we Californians always talk about So Cal and Nor Cal being so different...but California all together is NOTHING like the rest of this amazing country. It's been a blessing to be in this wonderful service. I've traveled from LA to Washington and cross country to here in NC. Met people from all parts of the country. Big cities, to small towns. I absolutely love learning about their customs and traditions. It makes it sound like i'm talking about foreign countries but if you've actually taken the time to meet people in these places you realize it almost is. Never thought I would permanently leave the west coast but now that I have experienced so much I don't even see myself going back. Not to mention my eczema is nowhere near as bad. lol
Anyways...like i said...i'm at work so I think I'll go find something to work on. haha
This is just a picture i got offline. But the colors are exactly like hers and the face pattern of the one on the right is the same.
I've seen the breed before. The owners get some flack often about them looking like a pit. I don't know why but people still think Soleil is a pit bull or has some in her so I still have to calm some people down when they see her.
Hey Dad, it's parEnts.
I'm glad I went back because I didn't see all the comments about the Outer Banks. I've heard a lot about them and I'd love to go there some day to see them. Sounds like you chose the right friends to hang out with.
It was good to hear from you. I haven't talked to you in I don't even know how long. I guess it's a good thing for blogs or we would never get to keep in touch with everyone. It sounds like all is well with you that's good to hear.Keep in touch. Katie
I am feeling your pain right now on the qualifications. I am going for my foreign vessel qual and it is taking forever because everyone is so busy they can't sign stuff off for me. Slowly but surley I guess.
